Great finds

Jared grew up in God’s crowning achievement, Colorado, near Red Rocks Ampitheater at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, where the sunsets are Denver Broncos orange and the clouds come out just long enough to remind you of how the rest of the world lives.
As he grew up, people would occasionally ask him what he wanted to be when he got older to which he would respond, “dinosaur,” “fireman,” “dinosaur,” “police officer,” “paleontologist,” “MLB baseball player,” “NBA basketball player,” and “rock star” in that order. By the time he entered Colorado State University, he had decided that he would be a smoke-jumper, someone who heroically parachutes out of airplanes to put out forest fires. This was perhaps the most outlandish dream yet, what with his brittle ankles and preference for reading post-structuralist philosophy over digging fire line. Fortunately, God had no interest in this dream of his.
Eventually, Jared could no longer ignore that his true calling was to become a pastor and help people discover what it means to have a vital faith without sacrificing their intellectual integrity in the 21st century.
Just weeks after undergrad, he headed east to Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio almost 65 percent believing that God would not call him away from everything he’d ever known without a plan. Sure enough the second person he met in town (after the housing administrator of the school) was the curly-haired barista and student who would become his wife. They married in 2010 and share their life in Orlando with a border collie mix named Lula, a.k.a. Papadou de Bubbalou.
Before Castle Church, Jared served as Pastor for Outreach at St. Stephen Lutheran in Longwood. He has a passion for serving the disadvantaged, founding the Seminole county satellite of Orlando’s IDignity, and is active in the Haitian Timoun Foundation. He loves football, soccer, blogging (jaredwitt1.blogspot.com), traveling, and he detests Jillian Michaels workout videos.
God is good all the time.
Nikki grew up in a large, close-knit family in Alliance, Ohio, just minutes from the NFL Hall of Fame, which she has still not visited to this day. She studied at Capital University and THE Ohio State University and now works as a Certified Nurse Midwife at Florida Hospital. She loves reading any kind of fiction with interesting characters, traveling the world, yoga, quirky hipster cafes, and is quick to realize when her husband is trying to sneak Denver Broncos colors into their home décor. She has a deep love for people and is always eager to meet a stranger. The more different they are, the better.
